Morro Bay at a Glance
Morro Bay rests on California's
Central Coast between San
Francisco and Los Angeles. This
working fishing village is well known for the famous Morro
Rock landmark that sits just offshore in Morro
Bay State Park. The dome-shaped rock was once used to build the breakwater
for Morro Bay, but is now a protected sanctuary for endangered peregrine falcons.
The Morrow Rock's sense of protection spreads over into the village itself, where
the pace is slow and visitors are welcome year round to explore the area's state
parks and beaches or to relax over a seafood dinner, fresh from the sea. The Morrow
Bay Golf Course is a popular attraction for golfers because it is the only
course located within a California
state park and provides ocean views from most holes. If visiting in October, the
Morro
Bay Harbor Festival invites the public to participate in celebrating the coastal
community through showcases and tastings from local wineries, merchants and industries.
